The Firstride Bowie Baby Carrier

Wildride started with toddler carriers, created for the in-between moments when children want to walk until their legs get tired and ask to be carried. As our community grew, parents began asking us to create a carrier for babies too.

We listened. Together with parents and babywearing consultants, we researched and tested different shapes, textiles, fits and constructions. We wanted to combine the soft comfort of a sling with the ease and defined structure of a technical baby carrier.

The Firstride Bowie Baby Carrier brings these qualities together in a fully adjustable design for babies weighing 3.2 kg / 7 lbs up to 20.4 kg / 45 lbs.

Ergonomic Support for Baby and Wearer

A comfortable carry comes from how the whole carrier fits. The seat and fabric body create the baby’s position, while the waistbelt and shoulder straps balance the weight for the wearer.

Bowie’s adjustable seat holds the baby’s thighs from knee to knee, with the knees slightly higher than the bottom in a natural M-position. The fabric body follows the baby’s rounded back to provide natural spine support. A foldable head and neck support panel adds stability for babies without full neck control, while padded leg openings sit softly around the thighs.

For the wearer, a supportive waistbelt provides a secure base. Wide, padded butterfly shoulder straps distribute the weight across the shoulders. Together, these elements keep the baby close and centred while creating a balanced fit for the person carrying.

Front Carry and Back Carry

Bowie offers front and back carrying, with each position suited to a different level of physical development.

For front carrying, position the baby upright against the wearer’s chest, high and close enough to kiss. Babies who cannot yet hold their head upright must face the wearer, with the head and neck properly held by the carrier.

Back carrying is only suitable when the child can sit upright without assistance and has sufficient head, neck and torso control. Never use Bowie in the back carry position before all of these requirements have been met.

In both positions, always keep the baby’s face visible and the airway clear.

Materials Across the Baby Carrier Collection

Material is part of a carrier’s performance. It determines how the carrier feels against the baby, how the body panel holds its shape and how the design moves around both bodies.

Every fabric in the Bowie baby carrier collection is selected for its softness, strength, flexibility and visual character.

100% Cotton Jacquard

The collection begins with 100% cotton jacquard. Jacquard creates colour and pattern through the weave itself, giving the textile depth and texture that can be seen and felt.

Cotton was chosen for its soft feel against delicate skin. The jacquard construction gives the fabric the strength and body required for carrying while keeping it flexible enough to fold compactly.

Across the palette, understated colours and more expressive woven patterns give each Bowie a distinct identity. The appearance changes while the construction, fit and performance remain consistent.

Every cotton jacquard Bowie is made with OEKO-TEX® certified fabric. This certification means the textile has been tested for harmful substances according to established textile-safety criteria. Because the fabric is worn close to the baby’s skin, its feel and composition were an important part of our material choice.

Magnetic Buckles for Quick One-Handed Fastening

Wildride has always focused on making carrying quick and easy. For Bowie, that meant finding a fastening system that works naturally when a parent is already holding their baby.

The magnetic buckles guide into position and close with a clear click. They can be fastened with one hand, making it quicker and more intuitive to put on the carrier and get the fit right.

Before every carry, confirm that each buckle is fully fastened and follow the safety checks in the product manual.

One Baby Carrier for Different Wearers

Bowie is designed to adapt to different bodies. Both parents can adjust the waistbelt and shoulder straps to create their own fit, and another caregiver can do the same.

The carrier is adjusted in two ways: around the person wearing it and around the baby being carried. The waistbelt and shoulder straps fit the wearer, while the seat width is set according to the baby’s size.

When a different person puts on Bowie, the carrier should be adjusted and checked again before use.

Designed in the Netherlands

Bowie was designed in the Netherlands and made in Turkey. Its construction brings together carefully selected textiles, technical fastening and skilled production, with every element considered as part of the complete carry.

The Bowie Baby Carrier complies with ASTM F2236-24 for soft infant and toddler carriers and is covered by Wildride’s two-year warranty.

The product manual contains the complete fitting, carrying and safety instructions. Read it before using Bowie and consult it whenever the fit or carrying position changes.

Baby Carrier vs Toddler Carrier

Wildride offers two carriers for two different kinds of carrying. Their weight ranges may overlap, but their construction and intended use are different.

The Bowie Baby Carrier creates a complete carrying position around the baby. It is secured around the waist and worn across both shoulders, with an adjustable seat and fabric body holding the baby close.

The Wildride toddler carrier is a single-shoulder hip carrier for children who can already walk independently. It is designed for quick lifts during the familiar walk, carry, walk again rhythm of toddler life.

Take Them With You

Wildride designs carriers to help families go outside, make plans and take their children with them. Bowie brings that idea to the first rides together, from a walk around the block to longer trips away from home.
